Widget actions

Connected widgets keep service controls out of the content area. Use the button in the widget header for refresh, connection, configuration and help. In layout edit mode, the pencil remains available for appearance and general widget settings.

Weather

City: enter the town or city name.
Country: select the country to prevent ambiguous names from resolving elsewhere—for example, choose Netherlands for Ede.
Automatic: keeps the previous first-match behavior for existing widgets.
Result: Widgy shows the resolved city, region and country so you can verify the location.

Calendar Sync

Source: built-in public calendar or Custom ICS.
Calendar ID: keeps multiple widgets independent.
Look ahead: number of days shown.
Privacy: anyone with a private ICS URL may be able to read that calendar.

Website Monitor

URL: public HTTP/HTTPS page.
Interval: desired refresh cadence.
Timeout: maximum wait per check.
Results: HTTP status, latency, SSL expiry and recent history.

Home Assistant

Server: public HTTPS Home Assistant URL.
Token: long-lived token stored encrypted.
Entities: up to eight per widget.
Refresh: keep intervals sensible to protect the Home Assistant server.

{}

API Connector

Method: GET or POST.
Authentication: none, bearer token or API key.
JSON path: value to display.
Safety: private networks, redirects, oversized responses and slow endpoints are blocked.

Stocks & Crypto

Stocks: comma-separated provider symbols.
Crypto: CoinGecko IDs and display currency.
Cache: reduces cost and provider throttling.
Timestamp: confirms whether data is current or stale.

G

Search Console Insights

Connection: Google OAuth with read-only Search Console access.
Property: choose a verified Domain or URL-prefix property.
Period: 7, 28 or 90 finalized days.
Query filter: optional text contained in Google queries.
Metrics: clicks, impressions, CTR and average position.

TCG

Father & Son TCG

Mode: search, day, month, featured or specific card ID.
Quick search: type your own card name directly in the widget; Widgy never prefills a Pokémon name or card number.
Filters: optional set name or set code with paging.
Stock: optional in-stock-only filter and quantity display.
Refresh: 10 to 1,440 minutes with server caching.
Shop links: open the matching product on fatherandsontcg.com.
Connection: managed securely by Widgy; customers do not need to enter an API key.

Food

Food Photo Analyzer

Photo: choose a clear JPEG, PNG or WebP showing the whole meal when possible.
Portion context: optionally describe plate size, package amount or how much is shown; this draft stays in memory and is never saved.
Result: review the derived serving basis and assumptions before using the calorie range or nutrients.
Safety: a photo cannot reveal every ingredient or cross-contact and cannot guarantee allergen safety. Estimates are not medical advice or a substitute for professional dietary or allergy guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Widgy is local-first. You can create canvases, use published free widgets and export or import layouts without registering. Premium and Pro widgets require a signed-in account with the matching plan.

Open Widgy, choose Customize, find the widget and select Add widget. Move or resize it on the canvas, then use the pencil button for its detailed settings.

Enter edit mode and select the pencil icon. General contains title and layout options. Data or API contains widget-specific settings. Save closes the editor and refreshes the widget.

The widget is published but locked for the current account plan. Your canvas keeps the widget and its settings. After the account receives the required plan, the widget becomes active without being recreated.

Add Calendar Sync and open Calendar connection from the widget menu. Choose a built-in calendar or Custom ICS. For Custom ICS, paste the HTTPS subscription address supplied by your calendar service, choose how many days to show and save. Widgy does not offer Google or Microsoft account sign-in for calendars; use their ICS subscription link instead. Each Calendar Sync widget has its own independent connection. Disconnecting one does not remove another. Private calendar links should be treated like passwords.

When there are no public dates in the short look-ahead window, Widgy shows the next available dates so the widget does not appear broken. Your own ICS calendar still follows its normal event range.

Enter the complete public website address, for example https://example.com. Set the timeout between 3 and 30 seconds. The widget reports HTTP status, response time and HTTPS certificate days remaining. Localhost, private IP addresses and internal network URLs are blocked for security.

Open the Weather widget settings, enter the city and select its country. For example, use Ede with Netherlands. Widgy sends the two-letter country code to the geocoding service, which prevents another city with the same name from being selected. Choose Automatic / any country only when the city name is unambiguous. Existing widgets without a country continue to work in automatic mode.

Up means Widgy received an HTTP response below 400. Down means the request timed out, failed DNS/TLS validation or returned an error status. SSL days remaining is only available for HTTPS sites. Recent checks are shown as history when available.

Enter comma-separated exchange symbols such as AAPL, MSFT, NVDA or ASML. Use the exact symbol supported by the configured market provider. Prices are cached to protect provider limits, so a small delay is normal. A stale-data message means the provider could not refresh and Widgy is showing the last safe result.

Enter CoinGecko coin IDs, not ticker symbols. Examples are bitcoin, ethereum and solana. Choose EUR, USD or GBP. CoinGecko data is cached and the widget displays the retrieval time.

Home Assistant must be reachable through a public HTTPS address. In Home Assistant open your profile, create a Long-Lived Access Token, then open the widget’s … menu and choose Home Assistant connection. Enter the HTTPS address and token, test and save. The token is encrypted on the server and is never returned to the browser.

After connecting, open the widget’s … menu, choose Home Assistant entities and search by friendly name or entity ID. Widgy supports sensors, binary sensors, lights, switches, climate, covers, input booleans, persons and device trackers. Add up to eight entities per widget. Unavailable or missing entities are shown clearly instead of being silently removed.

Widgy runs on an internet server and cannot safely call private LAN addresses. Use Home Assistant Cloud or a secure external HTTPS reverse proxy. Do not expose Home Assistant directly without TLS and strong authentication.

Open the widget’s … menu, choose Configure API connection, enter a public HTTPS endpoint and choose GET or POST. Select the authentication method and enter the credential only in the secure connection dialog. Use Display JSON path such as data.temperature or items[0].name to choose the value shown on the widget.

Widgy blocks localhost, private and reserved IP ranges, unsafe ports and redirects to private networks. Response size and request time are limited. Credentials are encrypted and omitted from canvas exports, logs and error messages.

Add Search Console Insights, open the widget’s … menu and choose Configure Search Console. Sign in with a Google account that has access to at least one verified Search Console property and approve the read-only permission. Return to Widgy, choose the property, select 7, 28 or 90 finalized days and save. Each widget can select a different property.

The optional query filter limits the displayed metrics and query rows to Google search queries containing the entered text. Leave it empty to show the property’s top query rows. The filter is not a live Google search and does not inspect competitor domains.

Search Console reports an average position across eligible impressions, devices, countries and result contexts for the selected period. It is historical performance data, not a live anonymous SERP position. Personalized and local manual searches can therefore look different.

Google normally finalizes Search Console performance data after a delay. Widgy intentionally queries finalized data ending about three days ago so totals do not keep changing unexpectedly.

Open the widget’s … menu, choose Configure Search Console and then Disconnect Google. Widgy attempts to revoke the Google token, removes the encrypted OAuth tokens and clears cached Search Console responses for the account. Widget display settings stay on the canvas, but data pauses until Google is connected again.

Add Father & Son TCG from the widget store. Type your own Pokémon card name in the search box and press Search. Nothing is prefilled. The widget’s … menu contains Configure card display, which can switch to Card of the day, Card of the month, Featured cards or a Specific card ID that you enter yourself. It also controls the set filter, in-stock filter, result count, stock details and card details.

No. The Father & Son TCG connection is managed by Widgy. Customers only choose the widget mode, search term and filters; no provider key is requested in the widget.

Widgy caches provider responses to protect the free API. When the provider is temporarily unreachable, Widgy may show the last safe response and labels it Last saved result. Open the widget’s … menu and choose Refresh card data later; do not repeatedly reload because provider and Widgy rate limits still apply.

Sign in, add Food Photo Analyzer, choose or drop a clear food photo and optionally describe a plate size, package amount or other portion clue. The portion draft stays only in memory and is never saved. Widgy re-encodes the photo to remove metadata. Choose Analyze, review the derived serving basis, assumptions and uncertainty, then explicitly save, copy or download the structured text estimate if useful. Free accounts receive three analysis attempts per UTC day; Pro and Business accounts are unlimited subject to shared provider safeguards. Rejected photos and provider failures after a request starts still use an attempt.

No. Calories and nutrients are estimates because a photo cannot reveal exact weight, recipes, oils or hidden ingredients. Potential allergens and dietary observations are uncertain, and cross-contact cannot be seen. Never use the result to claim food is allergen-free. It is not medical advice or a substitute for a dietitian, clinician or qualified allergy professional.

Connected widgets have daily limits based on the account plan. Cached responses do not normally consume another provider request. When a limit is reached, Widgy shows when usage becomes available again.

Available widgets depend on the active Widgy account and plan. When a widget requires another plan, Widgy keeps the canvas configuration but pauses the connected feature until access is available again.

The canvas and widget configuration remain stored, but restricted widgets pause and show the required plan. Credentials remain encrypted until you disconnect the integration or delete the account.

When enabled, Widgy stores a server copy of the account layout. Your browser copy remains available. Before replacing a different layout, Widgy asks for confirmation and offers a JSON backup.

No. Home Assistant tokens, Google Search Console access and API Connector credentials are stored separately from the canvas. Exports contain only connection references and display settings, so private credentials are not included.

Use Export from the Widgy menu and save the JSON file somewhere safe. Use Import to restore it later. Connection secrets are intentionally excluded and must be reconnected on a different account or installation.

Open the Safe update page once. It refreshes application files while preserving local dashboard data, then reload Widgy.

Open the widget’s … menu and choose Refresh first. Use the same menu for the service connection or configuration, then verify the address, entity, property, symbol or JSON path. Provider outages, account quotas and remote rate limits can temporarily delay updates.

Use the Support button inside Widgy. Include the widget name, exact error, approximate time and whether Test connection succeeds. Never paste an API token or private ICS URL into a ticket.
